Fabiana Cozza
Voice
"Voice-Drum: Listening and Imagination" is a teaching methodology developed and taught by Brazilian singer and teacher Fabiana Cozza. It is dedicated to people interested in discovering and/or deepening their relationship with their voice through song. During the practice, Cozza proposes a deeper investigation into the voice as a singular expression of a subject from the voice-body-psychism amalgam, bringing the Afrodiasporic drum to the classes, inaugurating a way of thinking about vocal work from a black perspective and thinking based on doing, performance, living together, listening to others, corporeality and the roda, as Fabiana learned as a girl in the samba and for the last 16 years in the candomblé terreiro.
The morning classes will be dedicated to technical exploration and the afternoon to rehearsing the repertoire for the students' performances on Friday night.
All are welcome. Fabiana Cozza's methodology makes no distinction between beginners and advanced students.

Beyond technique, Mendes shares the rich cultural narratives, oral traditions, and Afro-Brazilian roots that shape this vibrant art form. Participants will explore the distinctive grooves of samba chula, from the intricate thumb-and-index finger patterns to the poetic interplay between melody and rhythm. With a career spanning collaborations with icons like Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Maria Bethânia, Mendes offers more than a masterclass—this is a deep dive into the soul of Santo Amaro, the birthplace of samba de roda and one of Brazil’s most vital musical landscapes.
